“Showboat Rhapsody”
Note: This show was originally created by Jodi Rose, artistic director and founder of "Opera on the Go,” a non-profit traveling theatrical company. Showboat Rhapsody, with Charles Wade at the piano, was performed in libraries and schools throughout the tri-state area both before and after the television broadcast.
Bob Harned, baritone, and Jodi Rose, soprano, portray two Broadway hopefuls who meet along their mutual route to New York City. Along their way, they attempt to recreate over 30 of their favorite Broadway and Hollywood musical numbers through song and dance (in YouTube order): Hey Look Me Over, Some People, I’m On My Way, There’s No Business Like Show Business, There’s A Boat That’s Leaving Soon For New York, Together Wherever We Go, I Wanna Be A Dancin’ Man, Art Is Calling Me, Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat, Born In A Trunk Medley, Melancholy Baby, Swanee, He Loves And She Loves, S’Wonderful, Let’s Face the Music And Dance, I Could Have Danced All Night, I Won’t Dance, Wunderbar, Shall We Dance, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Why Can’t A Woman Be Like A Man?, I Hate Men, A Fine Romance, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, Somebody Somewhere, You’re Just In Love, It Only Happens When Dance With You, Just In Time, All The Things You Are, An Old Fashioned Wedding, Tea For Two, and Everything’s Coming Up Roses.
