After I moved to New York City, I convinced my father to move from Hawaii to the city where I could take better care of him. In the late 1970s, he and his friend, Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter, Ernée Simpson, founded Pink And Blue Music Publishing Company.  They needed help managing the company and asked me for assistance. I was glad to oblige. For the songs he had written, he had already prepared the manuscripts for the Copyright Office. However, all work ceased after he fell and broke his hip, then later had to enter a nursing home, and subsequently died.

I ended up inheriting the publishing company, with Ernée Simpson’s blessing. However, I was at that time in the middle of a cabaret performing period and did not give much attention to the publishing company. In 2000, my interest revived after I hired a recording engineer to explore a possible recording project concentrating on my father’s compositions. In 2001, I recorded my first CD, “Harned Sings Harned,” Bob Harned singing the songs of my father Alfred Marion Harned. For the next three years, the company published one CD each year:
